The Photo School (TPS) is an independent not-for-profit photography school and online resource dedicated to supporting artists working with photography.

Through online and hybrid mentorship programmes, courses, and workshops, we help artists sustain their practice, develop their photographic voice and approach, build the skills, mindset and resilience needed to succeed in the arts, and connect with a community of fellow artists and practitioners.

TPS strives to become a hub of alternative photography education, offering free and lower-cost learning opportunities that prepare the next generation of photographers for life as an artist, while grounding their work in the context of contemporary photographic discourse.

Our courses are designed specifically for early-career, emerging, and aspiring artists, addressing the unique challenges they face today. We recognise the wide-ranging barriers individuals encounter - practically, professionally, financially, emotionally, and psychologically - and aim to provide a supportive environment for pastoral guidance, open dialogue, and knowledge exchange, helping artists navigate these challenges and move forward with perspective.

TPS will recruit educators with a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences to shape the ethos, content, and direction of the school, ensuring it remains dynamic, responsive, and grounded in real-world practice. Formal qualifications are not required as part of the recruitment process. TPS values experience, insight and engagement, and will serve as an inclusive platform for educators.
